Shelby Timmins

Before stepping away from traditional legal practice, I was an Accredited Specialist in Family Law.

I have over 18 years of family law experience, much of this at one of Sydney's most respected family law firms. Realising I wanted to practise outside of court and in a more family friendly way, I stepped away from practising law and established a boutique dispute resolution business, Divorce | Done | Differently.

I hold a Masters of Law from the University of Sydney, I am a Nationally Accredited Mediator, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, Divorce and Conflict Coach, Parenting Coordinator and Collaborative Professional.

I am now a faculty member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Vice President of the Collaborative Professionals NSW and founder and President of Southern Sydney Collaborative Professionals.

Watch this space as I am currently writing a divorce book for children, everything they want to know about their parents' divorce but are too afraid to ask.

Aka The Happy Family Lawyer

The inspiration behind getting many professionals to believe in themselves and back their creative ideas. When I queried (for a moment or three) whether I should put this course together, she backed me every step of the way.

FDRP | NMAS | COLLABORATIVE PROFESSIONAL (and a bit of a collaborative superstar).

I am incredibly fortunate to share the teaching of this course with quite a few of the guru’s in collaborative practice and Bernie is certainly one of them.  In my very early days of mediating, I was fortunate to be invited to co-mediate with Bernie and the rest is history. Bernie’s background is varied and incredibly skilled. Bernie has a Bachelor with Honours Degree in Pharmacy, a Masters Degree in Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy, a Graduate Diploma in Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning. Bernie and I share the position of Vice President of Collaborative Professionals NSW and I can only hope you learn as much from Bernie as I have and that her Irish accept makes you smile. You will meet Bernie in week 3 but in the meantime, you can learn all about her here.

FDRP | MEDIATOR | CHILD INCLUSIVE PROFESSIONAL | COUNSELLOR | COLLABORATIVE COACH and all round powerhouse.

Valerie is know for her incredible knowledge and style and with a combined background in psychology, interpersonal communication and business experience, you can see why. Valerie’s desire to help people in crisis, has led her to work as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) and collaborative coach for people who are separating. When Valerie isn’t working with families to resolve conflict in a calm and caring way, you will find her sharing her knowldege with students in her role coaching and assessing candidates for National Mediator accreditation at the College of Law and Relationships Australia. Prior to this she managed complex cases as a FDRP at Relationships Australia. I told you she was a powerhouse. Valerie is also on the  Board of Collaborative Professionals NSW along with many of your guest presenters and brings a world of knowledge and experience to this course. You will meet Valerie in week 3 but in the meantime, you can learn all about her here.
